You are looking at this page because you are a court reporter who is obviously in the market for a good proofreader who will partner with you to make your job—and your life—a lot easier!
I was always that proofreading nerd in high school who hated math but loved the reading, the writing, and even the grammar! Somehow, it just came easy to me. I was the one who helped my friends with their papers so they could get that A. (As much as I should be embarrassed to admit it, I could get lost reading punctuation rules in the Gregg Reference Manual!) I had such a passion for this that I later became a high school English teacher, teaching the most advanced, college-bound students; and we challenged each other every day. I taught at the high school and community college level for 26 years. Meanwhile, my colleagues would bring me their own continuing education papers to edit and proofread.
After I retired, I couldn’t let it end. Those years of pushing writing and being a stickler for punctuation, grammar, and spelling were embedded in me. What could I do with that proficiency, other than teach? I soon discovered Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice, a rigorous and detailed, comprehensive course based on Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporting, and NCRA guidelines. Long story short, I wanted to continue to do what I had always done best—proofreading, so I plowed through and got certified.
During my training, I learned to appreciate just how hard all court reporters work to become excellent at what they do. And, by partnering with me, you can take on more work (or just have some free time!) while I am putting the finishing touches on what you have sent me. You can be sure I will always work carefully to return an accurate and flawless transcript by the agreed-upon deadline because I know that my own reputation relies on my protecting yours. I want you to be completely satisfied so our working relationship can continue.
